World Breastfeeding Week day 2
Sometimes a successful breastfeeding realationship looks like this!
A mom, pumping her milk for baby to receive any number of ways (we will talk about those later!) Sometimes a mom pumps because she is separated from her baby for work. Sometimes she pumps because baby is unable to nurse for any number of reasons.
Things like poor latch, inability to effectively suckle/transfer milk, cleft lip, anatomical issues for the mother (flat or inverted nipples are a common offender) or pain from one or more of these.
Some moms exclusively pump. Meaning they do not feed their babies at the breast. Ever. Either by choice or for one of the afformenntioned reason.
EP momma's are probably the most hardcore breastfeeding mom's out there. They have a set schedule they have to adhere to in order to maintain their supply. That means pumping for 15-30 minutes ever 2-3 hours, all day and through the night too They have to clean and manage pump parts and bottles and oh yeah, they have to feed and care for their child(ren) too
